  2. Rename the backup file you'd like to restore from msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt12 to msgstore.db.crypt12. ( The older backups may be on earlier protocols, such as crypt9 or crypt10. Do not change the number of crypt extensions.)
  3. Uninstall and install WhatsApp app on Android, then tap Restore when asked.
